Ok here's a short summary of what I've seen this week..

The onion movie

Genre: Comedy

The onion web site has been around for what seems like forever - since the dawn of the internet I guess. It has really set a standard for good satire on the web. This first movie is a collection of skits wrapped around a story about the Onion news network and it's anchor. Some parts are pretty funny - one or two are hillarious, and some parts doesn't really hit the mark. All in all, a pretty funny movie.

I give it 3 out of 5.

The ruins

Genre: Horror

A bunch of young Americans on vacation in Mexico gets the bright idea to go see an abandoned ruin in the middle of the jungle. What happens next is pretty obvious, especially if you have seen the trailer. This is not a bad movie - there are some really scary scenes and the actors are decent enough. The problem is, we've all seen this a million times before - only this time the bad guy is a flesh eating plant. No surprises, but still a decent horror flick with plenty of gore.

I give it 3 out of 5.
