A deadly virus is spreading fast in Scotland, forcing a corrupt government to build a huge wall around it and basically throw away the key. Fast forward 30 years and the virus has somehow found a way out, infecting the rest of the country. Survivors are spotted by a satellite over Scotland. One bad ass woman and a team of soldiers are sent in to investigate and look for a cure.

What comes next is a non stop action and blood fest that steals, pretty bluntly, from several 80's cult classics like Mad Max 1 & 2 and Escape from New York. Make no mistake, this is a B movie and I'm pretty sure that was exactly what Neil Marshall had in mind when writing and directing it. The only problem is that it doesn't even come close to the B classics it so shamelessly steals from. Doomsday is a shallow action flick that is mildly fun to watch. What it lacks in plot and acting it makes up for in action and gore - so at least I didn't fall asleep in the theatre.

If you want to watch Doomday I recommend you wait for the DVD. Great 80's soundtrack though!!
