Nightbeast

Posted on Oct. 27th 2007 9:17 by Bjorn No Comments »

“A high tech warrior from a distant planet. A killing machine with a taste for human flesh.” Nightbeast (1982) has everything of a classic early 80s B-science fiction movie - cheap effects, bad acting, naked breasts and a man in a monster suit.

Horror version of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

John Hughes directed the original in 1986 featuring Matthew Broderick in an early role. This trailer however translates this rather innocent comedy into a menacing thriller/horror flick.

Here is a creepy clip from the 1985 claymation film The adventures of Mark Twain. Excellent stuff!

Blade Runner, the best SCI FI movie ever?!

“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.” This line is just so good, and the music is’nt bad either! The Blade Runner: 5-Disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition is coming soon, it’s a must in your collection, well in mine for sure!

Blade Runner Final Cut

Posted on Oct. 2nd 2007 20:47 by Bjorn No Comments »

For me this is the major film event of the year - the release of Blade Runner Final Cut on DVD and HD. Oh I wish I could see the theatrical release in Los Angeles or New York, but since I don´t live in USA, I will have to settle with the DVD release.

Chained heat

“In this prison, rules and new inmates, are meant to be broken.” Starring the queen of 80’s B-movies, Linda Blair. A modern classic in its genre.

Hercules II - He’s back!!

The trailer for Hercules II looks even worse than the first one. I love it!

Hercules - The movie

“From the depths of space comes the strongest man on earth. In a super adventure odyssey.” From the director of Starcrash (!!!), starring Lou Ferrigno (The Hulk tv series), this pearl features “amazing” special effects and a story to die for.

Turkish Rambo and his amazing rocket launcher

Posted on Sep. 21st 2007 16:33 by Bjorn 2 Comments »

I just found two hilarious clips from the 1986 Turkish Rambo ripoff “Korkusuz”. In the first part the hero shows us his amazing fighting skills and in the second he lets his weapon speak for him. This movie should get an award in comedy. :)

Back to the arcade

Lets have a look at classic arcade games. Chasing Ghosts is about the nerd version of a rock star - the arcade game record holder of the 70/80s. The King of Kong is about Billy vs. Steve meeting each other in a deadly match of Donkey Kong. I gotta see both these movies.

The Heroes (Shalin ying xiong)

Another wonderful trailer from an early 80s kung fu movie from Hong Kong. I have absolutely no clue to what this movie is about and the narrative text doesn’t help much either. It’s great fun to watch though. :) Now see if you understand anything…
